Our Floor Sanding & Restoraton Process

Stage 1 : Repairing your Floor

Floorboards may look in bad condition as they have never seen the light of day. Plumbers and electricians may have cut through the boards leaving them looking a mess these can easily be fixed by using reclaimed pine floorboards to replaced damaged boards and matched with your existing floor..

Stage 2: Filling the Gaps Between Boards

Gap filling a floor is an option that many people like since it brings a uniform finish to the floor. Because of the circulation of cold air brought in through the air bricks; gap filling insulates the your living area and stops draughts. It also prevents a build up of dirt between floor boards.

Stage 3: Sanding your floor

GJP Floor Sanding London pride ourselves on professional floor sanding & finishing. We only use the best German made “Hummel” and Swedish made “Bonner” sanding equipment, which includes a powerful vacuum system / dust extraction systems on these machines results in around 3-5% dust.

Stage 4: Staining / Choose a Colour

Staining a floor to express yourself and can add a wonderful depth and warmth to the wood floor. Popular choices include walnut and antique pine. Staining your floor can bring warm, rich tones to a room. GJP Floor Sanding London uses Morrells litefast floor stains for superior results. Morrells Floor Stains are hard wearing, fast drying and high opacity for an unbeatable color depth and excellent grain definition.

Stage 5: Refinishing your Floor

Once a floor has been completely sanded it is extremely porous & requires finishing with lacquer (varnish) or oil to protect it. Lacquer is the most practical, attractive & hard wearing, way to finish a floor & necessitates the least maintenance all round. The quality of the seal that goes onto your floor is perhaps the most important part of the entire sanding process.
