Sanding Your Floor

Getting a beautiful finish to your floor starts with getting the floor perfectly sanded. Our London wood floor sanding team has over 30 years of experience and the finest quality products at their disposal. This ensures your floor is smooth and perfect for the finishing process.

The Sanding Process

Our sanding process has been improved upon and practiced until it is perfect. Depending on the condition of your floor, we will start with a coarse abrasive. Typically, this is a 40 grit but with old floors that are badly stained, discoloured or covered in paint, we will break out the big guns, the 24 grit.
This will usually clean most of the paint and stains but it leaves the floor with a fairly rough finish. It is important to work through the different sandpaper grits in order to get a perfectly sanded floor. We will gradually work our way up from 40 to 60 and finally to the 80 grit paper. In between each change of grit size, we clean the floor in order to prevent any scratches.
We know that a 40 grit granule caught underneath a 60 grit belt can cause some serious damage to the floor.
Once we go through all of these coarse sanding stages, we will be ready to move onto the finish-sanding step. This is where we take the rough look of the floor and give it a nice smooth, sanded finish.

Be a Courteous Neighbour

hove-floor-sanding-machinesIf you happen to live in an apartment complex or shared flat, it would be nice to warn your neighbours about the floor-sanding project you have going on. These high quality machines can be quite loud and will undoubtedly disturb any neighbours.

As well, you may want to pick up some ear protection and dust masks. All of our qualified wood floor sanding team members will be wearing ear protection and face masks, so don’t be alarmed when you walk in on them and they look like a hazmat team!
